DOUGLASTON
MAN INTRODUCES HIS PALZ
Board
Game Inventor Manufactures Plush Toy That Encourages Penmanship
A Douglaston lawyer who invented a popular 1980s board game
said that a new toy he is manufacturing not only provides
a cuddly companion for children, but also encourages them
to learn to write.
Ed
Muccini, a Douglaston attorney who practices criminal law
and business litigation, is hoping that his Penpalz are
the next must-have toy for children.
The
toys are plush animals that fit around a childs wrist
and help them to hold a pen or pencil correctly.
CUDDLY
PLUSH COMPANION ENCOURAGES WRITING AND CREATIVITY
NEW
YORK -- PenPalz, creative cuddly plush companions whose sole mission
is to encourage children to write and create, will debut at Toy
Fair.
Created
by a school teacher looking for a way to make writing more fun
and encourage penmanship practice, the collectible plush slip
on a child's wrist and remain there to encourage writing and creativity.
Shakes the Puppy Dog, Benji the Turtle and Haiku the
Panda each come with a pencil and a literary tie in that will
spark questions and encourage further discussion. PenPalz easily
stay on the wrist via an elastic strap and magnetic paws.
Recent
studies by researchers are finding that writing by hand engages
the brain and can improve idea composition and expression, and
may aid fine motor-skill development.
PenPalz
have received critical acclaim from teachers, especially those
of special needs children; occupational therapists and parents
across the country.
